چکیده
ABSTRACT We study the kinematics of luminous blue variables (LBVs) in Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). Using high-resolution spectra, we measure systemic radial velocities for a sample 16 LBVs and LBV candidates. In order to net motion compared their local environments, subtract projected line-of-sight velocity at same location derived from rotation curve model LMC. nebular wind emission lines, infer dispersion $40.0^{+9.9}_{-6.6}$ km s−1. To put context with other evolved massive stars, compare this red supergiants (RSGs) LMC, which have significantly smaller $16.5^{+0.4}_{-0.6}$ Moreover, 33 per cent more than 25 s−1, while only 9 RSG such high velocities. This suggests that include runaways population stars evolves become RSGs, indicating are preferentially kicked by companion’s supernova explosion as stars. Our investigation reveals interesting clues about LMC well. find widths lines each target remain constant over several epochs, whereas measured absorption exhibit highly variable R110, R81, S Dor, Sk-69°142a, Sk-69°279. These five probably binary companion. Additionally, Sk-69°142a experienced its second outburst 2019 September, shifting status candidate confirmed LBV.

RAVE spectroscopy of luminous blue variables in the Large Magellanic Cloud
Context. The RAVE spectroscopic survey for galactic structure and evolution obtains 8400–8800 Å spectra at 7500 resolving power at the UK Schmidt Telescope using the 6dF multi-fiber positioner. More than 300 000 9 ≤ IC ≤ 12 and |b| ≥ 25◦ southern stars have been observed to date. Aims. This paper presents the first intrinsic examination of stellar spectra from the RAVE survey, aimed at evaluati...
متن کاملThe puzzling Luminous Blue Variable-like object HD5980 in the Small Magellanic Cloud
We have observed the exceptional SMC star HD5980 during several runs from 1989 to 1995 at ESO La Silla. CASPEC at the 3.6m telescope and EMMI in echelle and long slit modes at NTT were used for spectroscopy. Subarcsecond images were obtained using SUSI at NTT and also an adaptive optics system at the 3.6m telescope. In all our spectra taken before 1994 September HD5980 shows a spectral type of ...
متن کاملInternal Kinematics of Luminous Compact Blue Galaxies
We describe the dynamical properties which may be inferred from HST/STIS spectroscopic observations of luminous compact blue galaxies (LCBGs) between 0.1 < z < 0.7. While the sample is homogeneous in blue rest-frame color, small size and line-width, and high surface-brightness, their detailed morphology is eclectic. Here we determine the amplitude of rotation versus random, or disturbed motions...
متن کاملLarge Magellanic Cloud
Formation of GMCs is one of the most crucial issues in galaxy evolution. I will compare CO and HI in the LMC in 3 dimensional space for the first time aiming at revealing the physical connection between GMCs and associated HI gas at a ∼ 40 pc scale. The present major findings are 1) [total CO intensity] ∝ [total HI intensity] for the 110 GMCs, and 2) the HI intensity tends to increase with the ...
متن کاملTHE GLOBAL CONTENT, DISTRIBUTION, AND KINEMATICS OF INTERSTELLAR O vi IN THE LARGE MAGELLANIC CLOUD
We present Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer (FUSE) observations of interstellar O vi absorption toward 12 early-type stars in the LargeMagellanic Cloud (LMC). The observations have a velocity resolution of.20 km s 1 (FWHM) and clearly show O vi 1031.926 Å absorption at LMC velocities toward all 12 stars. From these observations we derive column densities of interstellar O vi in this nearb...
